I honestly forgot that I even had this blog up and going. :) The other day Grace asked to write on her blog which is connected into this account. That's when I remember this little blog that never became.
So I decided I might give it a little bloggy CPR and see if it could be resuscitated. I'm not at all sure what I'll write about here. Way back in the day, I was hoping that this blog would be a forum for tips on all things food, family fun, frugalness (is that even a word??), fitness, and craftiness (dang. I couldn't think of a synonym that started with F!).
Depending on my mood and where I am in life, the focus may shift more to one topic than the other.
I imagine I will be the lone poster. Kim has a little too much on her plate right now. But you never know...she might pop her head in every so often. Crazier things have happened.
Plus...I think I've decided to use this blog as my forum for posting about my half marathon training. Maybe. I just don't really want to post the gory details on my main blog.
So basically this will be my catch all blog where all the second rate crap goes. Aren't you so happy to be reading? :)

I heart Hungry Girl....
I've found this site that I LOVE called Hungry Girl. I get an email everyday that chockful of recipes, food reviews, and more. I LOVE it. It's one of the few emails I look forward to receiving each day. The next two recipes came from one of those emails. I love them because they are SUPER EASY with only two ingredients each...
**Egg Beaters + Laughing Cow (2 pts.)
This is so simple...Take your favorite mug and spray with cooking spray. Add in 1/2 cup of Egg Beaters (though I use Better'n Eggs cause it's cheaper). Crumble up one Laughing Cow Light Swiss Cheese wedge. Cover the mug and microwave for a minute. Stir it up, then microwave for another 30-45 seconds. Or until the eggs are just set....
**Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations Dough + Meatless Breakfast (3pts.)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out the entire package of dough so you have a big rectangle.
Scatter 6 oz. crumbled meatless sausage on top. (I used the Morningstar crumbles)
Roll it up into a log, and cut it into eight little breakfast biscuits with a serrated knife.
Place on a baking sheet that's been sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake them in the oven for about 15 minutes.
(Tip: we added a sprinkling of 2% mozzarella cheese...Yum!)
I'm really going to make an effort to take some pictures in the future!

Cheese Soup
This is a recipe that a coworker gave me a long time ago. She received it at a WW meeting, and one huge serving is one 1 point!
3 cans of chicken broth
1 can mild rotel
2-3 lbs frozen California style veggies (or I like to experiment with all kinds of different frozen veggies)
10 oz. light Velveeta cheese
Cook veggies in rotel and broth until tender. Add cheese to the broth and rotel. Cook until cheese melts.
1 cup=1 point
Easy, easy, easy! My whole family loves it!

Welcome.
I need another blog about like I need a hole in the head. But these past couple of weekends I've been a tiny bit obsessed with designing blog headers and finding FREE (FREE should always be capitalized.) backgrounds and templates.
That's truly how this blog came to be. But the more BFF Kim and I talked about it, we decided we needed a whole blog devoted to all things food...and frugal...and fitness...and FREE...and family fun...and well, whatever else we decide to throw in there.
It's a place for us to blog about all things related to making a home. Hence the title. Hungry Hungry Homemakers. Because honestly we both stay hungry. And not just hungry...but HUNGRY HUNGRY. Except when there's Starbucks or shrimp. In those cases we are more than likely visiting our porcelain throne.
Oh, and before we go any further, let's establish a definition for HOMEMAKER. On this blog, a homemaker is ANYONE who makes a home for their family. Consulting the dictionary...homemaker- One who manages a household, especially as one's main daily activity.
I don't know about you, but I manage my household among a multitude of other duties.
Kim and I are both homemakers. We make homes. It's just that they might look a little different.
I'm a single mom who in addition to working inside the HOME steps out into the big wide world and WORKS there too! Still a homemaker on this blog...
Kim is a married mom who recently resigned from her WORK outside the HOME, to focus on her WORK inside the HOME. And she teaches her boys inside the HOME too. Still a homemaker on this blog...
Now that I've got that out of the way, let me tell you who I am.
I'm Shanda.
Single mom.
Two kids.
Ages 11 and 7.
Not a great cook.
But a capable one.
I love FREE and almost FREE anything.
Coupon clipper.
Devoted to the Mod Podge.
I like to try new things.

Now it's Kim's turn....Take it away, Kim!
OTHER than what SHANDA has already said I am just a simply all around fabulous individual! I love my boys, thirteen ( Oh, I cannot believe that I have a teenager!) and eleven.I am a stampin' fool.
I have big hair when it is clean. That's why it always looks better the SECOND day.
I am creative.
I have rediscovered my love for COOKING and entertaining since I quit my paying job. I still have plenty of work but I just don't get paid for any of it now.
So that's us...The Hungry Hungry Homemakers (not Hippos)!
Come back to visit often...you never know what you might find!
